The BASKETBALL Prozap took place last week in Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA.

The Lycée Français René Descartes welcomed six other delegations (Seoul, Canberra, Shanghai, Manila, Bangkok and Hong Kong) for an intense and challenging competition. Among the invited delegations was FIS and its four teams (one U15 girls’ team, two U15 boys’ teams and one U18 boys’ team) ready to take on the competition.

The FIS U15 girls’ team had an exceptional run (7 wins in 7 games) throughout the tournament. They showed unfailing determination and great team cohesion. Their talent and hard work were rewarded in the final, where they took on the local Phnom Penh team… and gave them no chance. Total victory and the title of Asian French High School Champions! Well done to Naomi, Isée, Aurélia, Joséphine, Margot, Anais, Julie, Rhéa, Lucia and Maria (both tournament MVPs!).

The FIS U15 boys also put in some fine performances at the tournament. Despite fierce competition, they managed to come fourth (team 1) and sixth (team 2). Their commitment on the pitch and their team spirit were remarkable, and they gave their all in every match.

Victor Z., Louis F., Yon and Myles put in dazzling performances. Well done to Louis, Oscar, Eliott, Théophile, Felix S., Felix B., Dylan, Howard, Joshua, Ulysse, Victor M. and Jordan.

As for the U18 boys, they also showed great skill and fighting spirit throughout the tournament. Despite the high level of competition, they managed to finish in fifth place. Their performance is to be commended, as they came up against strong, seasoned teams made up mainly of Terminale/Y13 students, unlike our team made up largely of seconde/Y11 players.

Their commitment and passion for basketball were evident on the court, and they can be proud of their achievements. They’ll be back next year! Well done to Alex, Anthony, Memphis, Hadrien, Ulysse, Adrian, Unai and Rémy!

FIS leaves Cambodia with some fine performances to its credit. The girls’ victory in the final against the Phnom Penh team testifies to their talent and determination. All the players showed exemplary sportsmanship and proudly represented our LFI at this international competition.

This sporting event will be remembered for a long time, and it’s certain that our players are already thinking about next year. Congratulations to all the FIS teams for their outstanding performances and their passion for basketball!

Last but not least, a big thank you to the coaches who made this trip possible: Coach Aleks, Cyrielle and Coach Alex!
