Final stretch for the icon mural!

Issue 63: 10/5/2024 , Strategic Objective: , , , , Blue Pool Road Notices (Upcoming Events) Y12, Y13, 1ère, Terminale

The Terminale art students have finally had the chance to start work on the wall at the entrance to BPR, renamed the Icon Mural! The sun hadn’t been out since April, and we were behind schedule due to heavy rain. After having carried out all the simulations on canvas, and having designed the grid of monumental proportions, we weren’t at the end of our rope. The wall is plastered, and the Eicó colors had to be applied with a brush, then a roller in superimposed layers. An artist’s job! And on May 3 and 6, our young artists, more motivated than ever and despite cloudy skies, managed to make up for lost time, thanks to the efficient help of the first-year art students. Joackim Cimmerbeck, owner of Eicó, offers environmentally-friendly paint products. He also works with many of the artists at the HKWALLS street art festival, and came to the school to give us some useful tips. Now it’s down to the home stretch, and “Operation Stencil” is shaping up to be a good time! … in the hope that rain and wind won’t spoil the party. 32 large-format stencils will be applied to reveal 32 French and Hong Kong icons, celebrating our culture and that of our host country! The wall of icons will be inaugurated on June 3 during the vernissage of the final-year art students.

Not to be missed!
