End of Year Reports 2023/24 & Welcome Back to 2024/25 Information

Issue 68: 21/6/2024 Strategic Objective: , , , From the Principal

We are really proud of our students, who are spirited and confident. On Friday, June 21st you will find your child’s end-of-year report on Engage, the parent portal. The report is based on teaching and learning, which started in September. It includes all curriculum areas and specialists. Your child’s report will be accessible and downloaded via Engage from 6 pm.  Assessment reports: ISPri_T3

Please note that those students who arrived in the second half of the final term will not receive a report.

Engage will be closed from July 2nd to July 5th so the IT team can update the system. Please ensure you access the system before this date. The system will be reopened on July 6th, so you can access reports and back-to-school information.

Curriculum Areas

The curriculum has been broken into four main areas: English, (reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and spelling), Maths, IEYC/IPC and Specialist subjects. This breakdown aims to provide a more comprehensive and holistic report of your child’s progress across the curriculum. Our reports’ language is consistent with the IEYC,  IPC, and the current UK National Curriculum.

Assessment during the academic year in IS Primary

Our talented and supportive teachers use a combination of summative and formative assessments to assess the children’s learning progress in English, Maths,  IEYC/IPC and specialist subjects.

Formative assessment combines daily assessments of a child’s ongoing learning via Google Classrooms, Active Learn, online activities, quizzes, verbal discussions, success criteria, Google meets, and responses to feedback.

The summative assessment aims to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit or course by comparing it against some standard or benchmark. We use progress tests from GL Assessment to benchmark our judgements. GL Assessment has provided tests for schools for over 20 years. They benchmark the results across International and UK schools. In addition, we also use the end-of-unit assessment for learning rubrics for IPC units.

Using this data allows our teachers to assess our students’ learning in a holistic manner.

A special thank you to all the IS Primary representatives and class representatives, who have given a great deal of support and helped us move forward with constructive feedback.

On behalf of our Vice Principals Jane Wakeman and Melissa Payne and our IS Primary team, thank you to all parents for your continued support – Have a fantastic summer break, which begins Friday, 28th June. Next week, we will have lots of learning and year six graduations.
