BANYAN LEAF MATTER!
In the frame of French high schools around the world Week” (La Semaine des Lycées Français du Monde) Year 10 & Year 11 were encouraged to question themselves about climate change and especially : Why does the Banyan tree matter? What’s so special about the banyan tree? The fact that the Banyan can live for so long, storing CO2 init’s roots and trunk, make it a valuable part of the global ecosystem. Understanding that this tree is also considered to be sacred in some places in India, they learnt about Mandala Dot Patterns, to show how beautiful their “recycled” banyan leaf was. A mandala is a circular figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism. A mandala is a symbol of the universe in its ideal form, and its creation signifies the transformation of a universe of suffering into one of joy. It can also be used as an aid to meditation, helping the meditator to envision how to achieve the perfect self.
The result is beautiful with banyan leaves all covered with geometric configuration of symbols and white mandalas.
