FIS Finds Success in Round 1 of HKSSDC

On Monday, 16th October, three of our debaters competed in the first round of HKSSDC (Hong Kong Secondary Schools Debating Championship) for the fall term. Emerging victorious, they had an overall very positive outlook on their time in the competition. 

Jacqueline Li, our best speaker of the debate, said “It was stressful for the first 15 minutes or so, but it got a lot better after getting used to the atmosphere of HKSSDC. In the end, it was very rewarding.” Our other two speakers, Ayesha Chowdhry and Valeria Alvarez Martos, both mentioned how it was “positive but chaotic” and an “amazing experience”. 

We’re so proud of our debaters and what they have achieved, not only in this round but also during prep and practice sessions. This was only the first of many rounds and we’re looking forward to a year of fruitful and constructive debates!
