Family Fun Fair Strikes Again: Celebrating Sustainability!
We are thrilled to announce the resounding success of our recent Family Fun Fair 2024, where sustainability took centre stage! Held on 20 January at TKO Campus, the event brought together around 2,000 parents and students for a day filled with excitement and joy. With an array of over 50 vendors and contributors of children’s activities, booths showcasing pedagogical activities related to sustainable development, delectable food from our select F&B suppliers, and the bonus of glorious sunshine, it was truly a memorable occasion.
We are delighted to share some incredible accomplishments from our first community event of 2024:
- Students, parents, vendors, and contributors wholeheartedly embraced our sustainability initiatives, resulting in minimized waste and reduced carbon emissions during the largest school event of the FIS 2023/24 calendar.
- Thanks to the generous support from your entrance tickets, we are delighted to announce the purchase of an impressive 1,509 trees for our French School Forest in Thailand! In collaboration with EcoMatcher, who pledged to plant an additional tree for every two trees, the Family Fun Fair has collectively contributed to the planting of a grand total of 2,264 trees. Over the next year, these trees are expected to offset approximately 56.6 tonnes of CO2 emissions, which will suffice to offset the carbon footprint of the event or is comparable to the impact of 15 return flights to Europe.
A special appreciation goes out to Elodie, the FIS Youth Ambassador for EcoMatcher, whose impactful leadership has been instrumental in launching the FIS French Schools Forest project. Discover more about her incredible journey here. - The garage sale successfully raised a grand total of HK$3,800 for ImpactHK, and unsold items were donated to the Salvation Army. To top this, your thoughtful monetary donations will be allocated to support FISCA’s fantastic upcoming projects. Stay tuned, and thank you!
Looking ahead, our goal is not only to organize fantastic and engaging community events but also to ensure their sustainability. We are committed to educating our partners, suppliers, and the entire school community about the importance of reducing our carbon footprint.
Your participation in the Family Fun Fair has made a significant positive environmental contribution, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continued awareness and support for this project.
Special thanks go to the talented students who enthralled us with their music and to their remarkable music teachers, Mr Xavier Costantini, Ms Melody Ng, Ms Wang Meng Ngee and Mr Justin Cheong. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing organizing team for their time, passion, and unwavering commitment. Together, we can continue to create memorable moments while fostering a sustainable future.
