Are you an avid diver who wants to learn more and also contribute to conservation of the seas? Or just someone who loves the oceans and wants to learn more about sharks, their patterns and habitats?

Mr Brady is looking to organise a week-long thresher shark marine research trip during Spring 2024, carried out together with the Thresher Shark Research and Conservation Project based in Malapascua, Cebu, Philippines.

The thresher shark has been featured in Discovery Channel’s Shark Week and despite being a shark, is essentially harmless to humans. It is a beautiful, elegant and graceful creature to watch in the water:

This will be a great learning experience if you dive or love nature and the natural world.

For IB and/or BFI students, this may be something to consider for your CAS or CDM projects.

Qualifications/requirements

Note: this is a marine research trip – not a beach and dive holiday (although there are nice beaches there!) We will be getting up early every day to go out and do 2-3 research dives with these sharks and also working with the research team to analyze the findings each afternoon and evening.

Days will be long and tiring but you will learn an incredible amount and it will be an experience that you will not forget!
