Report on 29th January Board Meeting
The Board of FIS met for its fourth session of the year on Monday 4th of December. In the spirit of our United and Sound Governance, we are fully committed to demonstrating transparency and we will be continuing to share an update with you here monthly.
There were three major items in this month’s Board meeting:
A comprehensive Admissions report from our Director of Admissions, Jo Stanley: In her report, Jo was able to highlight the trends in applications, assessments, and enrolment in the last 5 years. She also presented the school’s current situation and the 24-25 forecast, which serves as a baseline for the school’s budget. Finally, she showcased the improvements made in our Admissions practice to be service-oriented and fulfil our strategic objective of being the top-of-mind international school in Hong Kong.
A presentation on the 2024-2025 budget by the Finance committee: the Board studied a first iteration of next year’s budget as prepared by the leadership of the school and reviewed by the Finance committee. A final iteration of the budget will be presented in February, taking into account the Board’s remarks. The budget will then be voted in the March session and presented at the AGM this spring.
Finally, our Head of School Dr. Emmanuel Bonin presented a mid-year review of progress towards the strategic plan. Emmanuel presented 10 different projects / initiatives in various areas of the school and demonstrated how each of these connected and helped achieve a number of strategic objectives. This came as a complement to the Head of School’s monthly reports to the Board on his yearly goals. The Board was able to ask questions and seemed satisfied with the progress made so far on our ambitious strategic objectives.
The next Board meeting is scheduled for 26th February 2024.
