Francophonie Week at FIS
Francophonie will be in the spotlight next week on our TKO and BPR campuses.
But what is the Francophonie?
First and foremost, La Francophonie is made up of men and women on five continents who share a common language, French.
There are 321 million French speakers in the world, making it the world’s 5th largest language. There are also 93 million students studying French, making it the 4th most widely used language on the Internet. And 51 million people are learning French!
La Francophonie’s mission is to :
- Promote the French language and cultural and linguistic diversity.
- Promote peace, democracy and human rights.
- Support education, training, higher education and research.
- Develop economic cooperation for sustainable development.
These missions are close to those of our strategy at the LFI. Next week will be an opportunity to highlight them in the two CDIs, in the classrooms and in the canteen with specific menus!
