New App at TKO: A Step Forward for the Spinal Health of Our Students
⏳ Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
In a world where education is increasingly going digital, the Tseung Kwan O campus of the French International School of Hong Kong is innovating once again with the launch of an internal app dedicated to collecting as much information as possible about the weight of school bags.
This new tool, designed by one of our teachers (Benjamin Barre), aims to collect high-quality data in order to raise awareness among students, parents, and the teaching staff about the importance of managing the weight of backpacks to prevent the risk of musculoskeletal disorders in youth.
The app allows not only for the recording of the weights of the bags but also for the collection of other relevant information to provide a realistic overview of this issue.
This tool offers a simple and intuitive interface for users and will be implemented in the coming days.
The goal of this project is twofold: on one hand, to educate our community about the impacts of excessive backpack weight, and on the other, to provide practical tools to improve this situation.
Through the regular use of this data collection app, we will help our students adjust the contents of their backpacks to ensure both comfort and safety. We will also be able to inform teachers so that they can have better visibility on this subject. They will be able to better manage the use of textbooks (both in school and at home) to help reduce their impact on the weight of our students’ bags.
We can make a significant difference in the daily lives of our youth by teaching them how to better manage their spinal health.
