Language May – Traditional Chinese sports day
As part of the Language May program, students in the 5ème to 3ème at BPR and TKO campuses recently took part in a super day of traditional Chinese sports. This initiative aimed to promote Chinese culture while reinforcing language learning.
During the session, our middle school students had the opportunity to discover many traditional Chinese sports, including the famous “CU JU 蹴鞠”, considered to be the oldest soccer in the world, invented in the 6th century BC. They also took part in games such as “jian zi 毽子”, “In the same boat同舟共济”, “tou hu投壶”, as well as several team activities such as “ba he 拔河”-tug of war. These activities encouraged the development of essential values such as sportsmanship, team spirit and inclusion.
What’s more, the students had previously studied sports vocabulary and expressions in Chinese. They were able to learn new terms and expressions specific to the field of sport, thus reinforcing their language skills.
We’d like to warmly congratulate our students on their active participation and enthusiasm on this traditional Chinese Sports Day. Their involvement in this cultural activity demonstrates their openness and willingness to discover new cultures.
We hope that this Traditional Chinese Sports Day will remain engraved in our students’ memories and inspire them to continue exploring and appreciating the cultural diversity that surrounds us.
