Oliver Jr the Musical: a true embodiment of the FIS strategy!
Dear FIS community,
It is May already and with the end of the year nearing, there will be plenty of opportunities for students to demonstrate and showcase their learning. This is of course the case for our exam classes, with IGCSE and IB exams underway and DNB and French baccalaureate starting soon. For many of our primary students, it will mean end of year exit points and shows.
Today I wish to highlight a very special opportunity which embodies many aspects of our schoolwide FIS strategy: on May 10, 11, and 12, I invite you to prioritise attending with your children the musical Oliver Jr, produced by our very own FIS students in conjunction with CentreStage Studios.
Oliver embodies the tenets of our @OneFIS and #ProudTeBeFIS strategic objectives. Participating also helps foster students’ sense of agency and self-efficacy, contributing to their well-being and their social-emotional learning. The price of the tickets serves to finance the production itself, and profit, if any, will go to the performance arts department budget for next year.
Auditions were held in December, and the cast started meeting weekly from January onwards. For the past couple of weeks, students have rehearsed for long hours on weekends and public holidays. Over the course of the last four months, they have learned to sing 18 songs, and have been working hard on the choreography for all the scenes.
Our very own Daren Durkin (International Stream Y4 teacher) plays the key role of Fagin.
This is truly a show not to be missed! Please come and support our FIS students. Looking forward to seeing you there!
