About the French International School

Established in 1963, the French International School (FIS) is the oldest international school in Hong Kong and was the first school in Hong Kong to offer the IB (in 1988). It is a dynamic educational institution, which welcomes over 2,700 students from around the world. It offers both French and international curricula and is one of the largest French schools in Asia.

FIS currently operates four campuses, next year all of which will accommodate students in the International Stream. Regarding the three primary schools, one is surrounded by greenery in Jardine’s Lookout and another campus is by the sea in Tseung Kwan O and the third is a beautiful campus in Chai Wan.

FIS is a private, not-for-profit organization. In the last five decades, it has grown from a small school with 35 students to one of the most renowned international schools in the region. Its students are from 40 countries speaking some 30 languages – it is a truly multicultural learning environment.

FIS operates two streams, French and International. The French Stream follows the French national curriculum and has approximately 1700 students. The International Stream follows an English and Mathematics curriculum based on the English national curriculum and also the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) leading to the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in years 7 and 8, then to IGCSE and finally the International Baccalaureate in Years 12 and 13. It currently has over 1000 students registered. In 2020/21 the international stream successfully went through the IEYC/IPC Accreditation process.

Job Description

The French International School – Hong Kong is currently looking for a Facilities Manager to manage our Tseung Kwan O Campus.  The Facilities Manager will report to the Head of Facilities and will supervise a medium-sized onsite facilities staff and contractors to manage all facilities management matters of the campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities with a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to the school’s facilities, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution
  • Oversee daily facilities operations of the Tseung Kwan O Campus and take full responsibility for all facilities management matters
  • Lead and manage a team of onsite facilities staff and contractors, maintaining a safe learning environment and ensuring the smooth operation of building facilities
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of site cleaning, lifeguard, and security services and recommend enhancements
  • Establish and manage cost control systems, develop annual maintenance repair and improvement budgets
  • Implement operational manuals and procedures to enhance efficiency and safety
  • Conduct risk assessments to anticipate issues related to health and safety, maintenance and renovation) and implement enhancements
  • Handle tendering processes and procurement for facility-related services and supplies
  • Ensure the campus facilities comply with statutory facilities regulations and requirements, including conducting annual facility checks
  • Collaborate with management to explore energy-saving opportunities and optimize space utilization on campus
  • Provide regular reports and presentations to management as requested, maintaining transparency in operations
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory list of equipment/materials and contractor lists
  • Be available for exceptional emergency interventions during evenings or weekends
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand user expectations and propose optimal solutions regarding safety, quality, functionality, intervention time, and cost
  • Work in collaboration with the facility management team in the Chai Wan campus and provide support when required
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years experience in facilities management or related field
  • Degree in a relevant technical subject or obtain relevant professional qualifications
  • Strong technical and building maintenance knowledge and project management techniques
  • Good leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in both English and Chinese is essential
  • Cheerful with a proactive “can-do” mindset; organised; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Good computer skills, e.g. Google Suite and BMS (Building Maintenance System)
  • Holder of Hong Kong driver’s license
  • Holding a “dependent visa” or Hong Kong Permanent Resident
  • Candidates with less experience can be considered as Assistant Facilities Manager
