On 13 December 2016, over 20 students from Year 10 were brought to Zhu Yuan restaurant in Happy Valley for a typical Hong Kong dim sum lunch. The purpose of the lunch was to allow them to experience the cultural aspects of dim sum, especially the ritual of enjoying a happy, boisterous and communal atmosphere.
Hong Kong Cantonese dim sum is a source of great pride for Hong Kong residents.
Dim sum is believed to have started as the addition of small snacks to the daily tea drinking habit, thus its name Yum Cha.
The students enjoyed ordering the small-plate dishes using their mandarin. Ordering is half the fun!
