L’Abribus – The Bus Shelter – Comedic Play

Jardine's Lookout Auditorium , Hong Kong

“L’ABRIBUS” is a comedy written by Philippe Elno. It has been adapted and performed numerous times in France and was originally created for the famous French actress Florence Foresti.

The play tells the story of the explosive and unlikely encounter between Isa and Eric. Isa is a high-energy Parisian showbiz star, while Eric is a silent beekeeper. Against their will, they find themselves forced to coexist for a few hours on a bench in the French countryside, waiting for a bus that seems to never arrive. One is caught up in hyperactivity, while the other is immersed in
contemplation.

She can’t seem to exist without an internet connection, while he has rid himself of his television and doesn’t own a phone.

However, these two solitudes will come together in a vibrant confrontation. It becomes a reflection on our relationship with others and the world in the era of hyper- technological connectivity.

An educational project

As part of this pedagogical and artistic partnership, the French International School of Hong Kong graciously provides the auditorium at the Jardine’s campus.

The director and actors are involved in a series of workshops with students on different topics such as playwriting, directing, acting techniques and artistic careers. The visual arts teachers have also implemented a class project with the 4ème students of the French section to create the poster. All the students work will be displayed in April, at school and on social media platforms.
