First Secondary Inter-House Sports Day

3 December 2018News, Uncategorized

The inaugural FIS International Stream Secondary Inter-House Competition began in earnest on Friday 26 October, kicking off quite literally with 7-a-side football and ultimate frisbee competitions. The emphasis was on mass participation and all the students signed up for one of the two activities in their four Houses.

The football competition was split by gender and each house had separate boys and girls teams for Years 7 – 10 and a combined Year 11 – 13 team. For the ultimate frisbee, the teams were of mixed gender for each house across the ages groups.

There were some great contests with over 80 goals scored in football and over 200 points scored in the ultimate. 5 points were awarded for a win, 3 points for a score draw, 1 point for a goalless draw and zero points for a defeat. As always, for each event there could only be one winner!

Emerald Snake House dominated the football competition winning 11 of their 18 matches gaining 58 points in total. (Golden Phoenix – 45; Sapphire Dragon – 33; Ruby Panda – 31)

Golden Phoenix House rose above the others in the ultimate with 13 wins from their 18 games for a total score of 71.  (Emerald Snake – 49 points; Sapphire Dragon – 34; Ruby Panda House – 31)

These results will now be put towards an accumulated points total for the other Inter-House events that are planned during the year. There are a variety of sporting and non-sporting events in the calendar, so watch this space for more news on this exciting new International Secondary Stream Inter-House Competition.
