Year 1 HH – IPC ‘The Circus is coming to Town’
A fantastic circus themed carnival was designed and run by the children of Y1C and Y1D for this Exit Point. All students and teachers from GS, CP, CM1 and CM2 thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The parents of Year 1 were welcomed in the afternoon and all were very impressed!
Year 3 – IPC “Footprints from the Past’
The Year 3 children and parents enjoyed a wonderful time digging for pre-buried dinosaur fossils on South Bay Beach on the morning of Friday 23 March. The dig was the exit point for their IPC unit ‘Footprints from the Past’. Children also quizzed their parents to check their dino-knowledge and were able to fill in any gaps in understanding their parents had on the subject! Year 3 were delighted to welcome Mr Armitage and Mr Clayton, who came along to join in the fun!
Year 4 – IPC ‘Time and Place, Earth and Space’
On Monday 19 March the Year 4 students had a fantastic morning celebrating their learning at the Exit Point for the unit on ‘Time and Place, Earth and Space’. The children presented research and learning to their parents and students in other year groups about different countries that celebrate Festivals of Light. They were confident in showing and were able to explain the differences in climates, time zones and why and how the festival is celebrated. The children brought in food connected to these festivals everybody to sample. A great learning experience was had by all.
Year 3 – IPC ‘Active Planet’
The Year 3 children were thrilled to visit the Stephen Hui Geological Museum at HKU as the entry point to their ‘Active Planet’ IPC unit. They loved the interactive exhibitions, especially the ‘make your own earthquake’ machine!
RC-IEYC “The Brilliant Bug Ball”
Reception students have started their new IEYC unit, ‘The Brilliant Bug Ball’. Jurassic Garage came to visit us and we met some new friends! The children were very brave and had a wonderful time learning about different insects and small amphibians! It was an amazing day!
RC – IEYC ‘Once Upon a Time’
RC had a great time at the Exit Point for their IEYC Unit ‘Once Upon A Time’. Students took part in four activities which were linked to each of the stories they had been focusing on over the last few weeks: The Enormous Turnip, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Hare & The Tortoise and The Gingerbread Man. They worked together to make a fantastic vegetable soup (out of Play-Doh), built an amazing bridge for the three goats, made a beautiful hare mask and decorated a yummy gingerbread man (and ate it!).
Thank you to all the parents and teachers who joined us!
Year 1 – IPC ‘The Circus is Coming to Town!’
Our Hung Hom campus was full of clowns, magicians, acrobats, stunt men, ring masters, gymnasts and animals today as part of Year 1’s IPC Entry Point.
Year 2 – IPC ‘What’s it made of?”
Students have been learning about materials in our unit What’s It Made Of? For the Entry Point, the children worked cooperatively to assemble and decorate gingerbread houses – and discovered that gingerbread and candy are not the best construction materials! Later on, the children investigated the properties of different materials and learned about how materials are chosen for specific uses. We talked about the problem of plastic on our planet, and how we all must make the effort to reduce our use of single-use plastic.
Year 5 – IPC ‘The Great, The Bold and The Brave’
Year 5 students have been on a journey through Hong Kong’s history. We started at the history museum before creating a timeline of important dates. We then learned about life as a British colony and during the Japanese occupation.
Hong Kong’s rich culture was then explored by looking at the double happiness story, the history of printing, and the tale of Chinese New Year. Here is a picture of some of the children creating puppets to tell the story using Stop Motion.
