This show will incorporate works from other Hong Kong international and local schools and will showcase art inspired collections and recycled garments from talented student designers to raise awareness of sustainable fashion.
The COUTURE team, led by Isabelle Bezançon the Art Director, was joined by the NGO REDRESS last week to present our event and learn about the work that REDRESS does to raise awareness of sustainable fashion. Jill Grinder, Executive Director, and Kay Liu, Education Manager, talked to students about how they strive to reduce waste in the fashion industry; not only does REDRESS work with young designers, it also runs consumer campaigns and workshops and the annual Eco-chic Design Awards. This fashion event showcases eco-friendly collections through which young aspiring designers learn to consider the ecological footprint of their work and the requirement for sustainable fashion. Jill and Kay also had the chance to admire some of the recycled wearable art pieces created by FIS students for the FIS Benefit Gala 2016.
FIS students were shocked to discover that the fashion and textile industry is the world’s second biggest polluter after oil and inspired to delve deeper into this topic. As an eco- friendly school, FIS is proud to raise funds for this NGO through our own event.
Many Thanks to Jill and Kay for visiting Blue Pool Road.
