[Press Release] “The Artists” in the spotlight at the French International School Gala Dinner

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“The Artists” in the spotlight at the French International School Gala Dinner

[Hong Kong – 9 March 2018]

More than 300 guests gathered together on Friday 2 March 2018 to enjoy an evening of entertainment and excellence at the French International School’s Gala Dinner. The event, in its seventh year, was themed “The Artists” and guests experienced a wide array of artistic talents as they raised funds for different school projects on all French International School (FIS) campuses.

“The Artists” brought members of the French, International and local communities together to support the school.  After a welcome cocktail reception, those in attendance were captivated by live performances from students, staff, parents and professionals; from African drumming, rock and classical music to ballet, tango and opera, “The Artists” featured impressed all. Brothers Emeric and Fabien Payer delighted with their classical renditions on piano and violin while FIS parent and opera singer, Leonard Fung, moved guests with his passionate performance.  Students also delighted with a sneak preview of their upcoming Couture fashion show showcasing fabulous pieces of wearable art designed from recycled materials with “The Roaring Twenties” as inspiration.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and private donors, guests encountered excellence at every level from the finest champagne, wine and food to the superb items available for auction. Throughout the evening, silent auction bids were received through a personalised bidding system on a wide array of products ranging from luxury handbags, jewellery and artwork to dining experiences, fine wine and cosmetics.

New for this year, and testament to the green ethos of the French International School, was the opportunity to “Help the Bougainvillea grow at TKO”. “One target close to my heart is to have the greenest school possible” explained Yves Bernard, President of the Board of FIS. This project will see the planting of a green wall at the school’s new Tseung Kwan O campus to enhance the environment and help the students grow green fingers.

Later in the evening, a live auction of 7 exclusive lots conducted by Graeme Thompson of Bonhams Asia, saw animated bidding in particular for a final opportunity to enjoy dinner with the French Consul at his Residence before his departure from Hong Kong later this year.

At the after dinner champagne party, everybody finished off a fabulous evening dancing into the small hours to the beats of FIS’s very own student DJs.

A huge thank you to all sponsors whose generosity made the evening possible; once again FIS Gala Dinner was a memorable evening celebrated for a good cause. Photos are available here and the event video here.

About French International School (FIS)

FIS was established in 1963/64 as one of the first international schools in Hong Kong. The school offers two streams: the French and International Streams, preparing students towards certification in the French national examination, the French Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. In 1988, FIS became the first in Hong Kong to be authorised as an IB World School.

The school will open a new state of the art eco-campus in Tseung Kwan O in September 2018. Currently, the school is one of the largest international through schools in Hong Kong and welcomes over 2,600 students from Reception/Moyenne Section to Year 13/Terminale, representing 40 different nationalities, across four campuses in Happy Valley, Jardine’s Lookout, Chai Wan and Hung Hom.

The school’s mission is to provide, together with families, a nurturing, culturally diverse community that inspires our young people to realize their true potential as confident, independent learners and responsible global citizens with moral values and integrity.
