Student Actions in Food Waste and Gardening programmes

7 November 2019News, Uncategorized

It is very important to raise awareness on this issue at an early age and three of our campuses (BPR, JL and CW) are participating in the Environmental Protection Department’s Pilot Small Food Waste Composter Programme to promote food waste avoidance, reduction and recycling.

Besides talks and workshops, an electronic composter is given to each campus to recycle some of the food waste, so the end-product can be used as compost in gardening. During this 3-year commitment, an audit report will be submitted to EPD on a regular basis with the participation of students.

A big thank you to the volunteers of the Green Committee and the recently elected eco-delegates in kick-starting the project.

Students action groups will be formed so that more students will be taking over and sharing the responsibilities to sort, audit and process the food waste and promote its avoidance.
